Clinical Medical Laboratory Testing

Clinical laboratory testing plays a crucial role in the detection, diagnosis, and treatment of disease.

Boundary Community Hospital houses its own full-service, Idaho-licensed, inspected and accredited Clinical Medical Laboratory. Diagnostic laboratory testing is performed by our highly-qualified, certified Medical Laboratory Scientists. They look for bacteria, parasites, and other microorganisms; analyze the chemical content of fluids; match blood for transfusions; and test for drug levels in the blood that show how a patient is responding to treatment while utilizing state-of-the-art analyzers, all with computer integration and interlinked computer communications with other health care facilities and our reference lab. Test results are sent directly to your physician.

Laboratory tests provide a virtual “snapshot” of a patient’s health status at any given time. It is estimated that about 60 to 80 percent of physicians’ diagnoses result from a lab test; all decisions regarding a patient’s diagnosis, treatment, hospital admission and discharge are influenced by laboratory test results.

Medical Laboratory Scientists carry out your physician’s orders for laboratory testing. If testing cannot be completed by Boundary Community Hospital, the specimen is drawn, prepared, ordered and sent out to our Reference Lab at no additional cost to the patient.

Boundary Community Hospital’s Lab provides personalized interaction. To the Boundary Community Hospital lab, you are not just a number. You are our friends and neighbors. We realize that each specimen and result is a part of you and affects our friends and neighbors’ lives. We are committed and look forward to keeping the community healthy and well-served. We care!
